Helen's Chinese School
A school where people want to be.
The best Chinese School you can find in Tianjin!

Are you new to Tianjin? This will tell you everything you need to know to begin your Chinese lessons!

When was your school founded? What is special about your teachers and students?

Helen: Our school was formally established in 2011. However, before that we had been engaged in Chinese teaching for many years. Currently, our school has three full-time experienced language teachers and three part-time experienced language teachers. They have all majored in TCSL (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) and have had various overseas teaching experience. Over two hundred students have studied at our school and now we currently have thirty students. Our students are from more than twenty countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia. In fact, our school is more like a small United Nations.

 What subjects do you offer?

Helen: The school offers classes in Chinese, business, HSK, HSKK, English, the art of tea making and calligraphy. Our teachers will also show students how to shop on Taobao and teach other practical skills. They can help them make travel plans, organize domestic and car rental services.

For foreigners, what are the difficulties in learning Chinese? I know your school motto is: Learning Chinese without tears. What are the teaching features of your school that makes learning Chinese easier?

Helen: I don’t think there is any difficulty in learning Chinese. Perhaps, many foreigners will regard pronunciation and the Chinese characters as obstacles to understanding the language. However, that these are difficult to master is just a myth they have created for themselves. Learning language is an enjoyable activity. Because of our rich experience in teaching, we have created our own teaching materials and teaching methods that work. Students will find studying with us a pleasant experience and learn to communicate in Chinese quickly and easily. The best indicator of the success of our teaching methods is that our students always get high scores in the HSK.

How do your classes operate?

Helen: We use the one-to-one teaching mode. We have classrooms in our school, but students can also elect to be taught at their company or at home. Our teaching content will be adjusted according to the abilities of the student. If the student is engaged in the construction industry, we will organize specialised field knowledge for them. Also, as it’s so convenient for all of us to communicate by SKYPE or Wechat, we can use such programs to further enhance student learning.
